Nehru Cup 2019

For the second time we participated in the Nehru Cup. We participated with three teams: Boys JSP U15 and U17 and girls Odisha U17. We were very proud to send three complete teams. Because last year, a part from the boys JSP U15 played for the the NCC (National Cadet Corps, those who join NCC are thought basic rules and discipline of Indian army or police) and some others for our own U17, because we didn’t have enough players to participate with two teams. This year it was different. And the results show this as well. Last year we were eliminated in the group stages. But this year the boys U15 made it to the quarter finals, the boys U17 ended up third and the girls U17 made it as well to the quarter finals.

Given the preparation time, this was a great performance. Because the boys only had three weeks of preparation. The girls went on a 10-day training trip to Punjab in Jalandhar and Chandigarh.

Simon Bodra, from our NTHA in Jamshedpur, was voted best player of the tournament. Besides the honor he won prize money. Congratulations!
