Opening Naval Tata Hockey Academy

After 1,5 year we are delighted to see the fruit of hard labor and efforts put in at every level to reach the opening. We are happy to announce that the Naval Tata Hockey Academy in Jamshedpur opened its doors on 13 July 2017.

Twenty-five cadets from Khunti and West Singhbhum, Jharkhand state were welcomed. One year after the start of the grass roots program in government schools, where they trained and played in a interschool league these children have proven talented. They are the lucky ones that will start an adventure of at least one year.

This first batch of 25 boys will be trained at a professional level on the newly constructed and by the FIH certified AstroTurf. In addition to field hockey these children will enjoy proper education as they are admitted to the NIOS, the largest open-schooling institute in the world.  Also, will there be arrangements for other co- curricular activities.
Our dream is that those boys in a few years have been developed into talented, determined, well educated and social young men and that they are role models for their communities and country.

So far, this multi-party collaboration between Tata Steel, Tata Trusts, Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives (CInI), Bovelander Hockey Academy and One Million Hockey Legs (1MHL) turns out to be successful.

Let us keep up the good work.
